Link to my Biography

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana (U.S.A.), I have been painting and writing poetry incessantly since childhood. "It is like my devil. I have no control over it. The colors and brush strokes just show me what I have to do" these were my words to Norma Reveler of The Daily Yomiuri (Tokyo, June 23, 1995).

In Japan, I discovered "kakimasu", a unique sound but two homonyms for the concepts and words "painting" and "writing". That makes sense to me for painting is poetry in strokes and colors and poetry is painting in words. My paintings are often accompanied by my poems.

My first exhibit was held in 1994 at the People's Gallery in the Setagaya Art Museum (Japan). Since then I have exhibited regularly in Japan, Israel, Estonia, Canada, Czech Republic, United Arab Emirates, Russia and France.

As a citizen of the world, like Montaigne, some of my exhibitions are entitled "Meanderings" and depict my curiosity and wonder faced with the wealth of beauty in nature and all cultures.

In my art, time seems to be a vertical entity that enables me to touch on subjects as they come to the fore. So I can't say that I have horizontal periods. I let everything come and then select what I will show at a given time.

For a while now, I have come back to a technique I started years ago with crayons or pastels and I have been able to adapt to oils. I call it "Atoms and Particles" because it helps me to make my subject alive with movement. It is a form of pointillism, calling together dots, lines and curves.
